Sensory Soup Bowl, a baby activity for 5–7 months

How to play

1
Fill a wide, shallow container with about an inch of water.
2
Drop in floating items (ping pong ball, rubber duck) and sinking items (metal spoon).
3
Let your baby splash and try to grab the different objects.

What you need

• A shallow container, ping pong ball, rubber duck, metal spoon

Simple household items. No plastic toys needed.

Why it works

Exploring floating and sinking objects is an early lesson in buoyancy and physics while building hand-eye coordination.

Good to know

Stay within arm's reach the entire time, even shallow water needs your full attention. Make sure all objects are too large to fit in baby's mouth.
