Warm Spoon Touch, a baby activity for Newborn (0–4 weeks)

How to play

1
Dip a metal spoon in warm (not hot!) water and test it on the inside of your wrist first.
2
Gently touch the rounded back of the spoon to baby's palm, sole of foot, or forearm.
3
Narrate what you're doing: "Feel that? It's warm and smooth!"
4
Let baby grasp or push away the spoon; both are great responses.

What you need

• A metal spoon
• A cup of warm water

Simple household items. No plastic toys needed.

Why it works

Introducing safe temperature differences helps build your baby's sensory awareness and teaches them about the properties of different objects.

Good to know

Always test the spoon temperature on your own wrist first. It should feel pleasantly warm, never hot.
