Paper Tearing Party
Give baby sheets of tissue paper or old magazines to crinkle, scrunch, and tear, a satisfying sensory fest.
In the Little Play app, this activity appears in week 17 of your baby's personalized plan.
How to play
1
Offer baby a sheet of tissue paper or a page from an old magazine.
2
Show them how to scrunch it, the sound is irresistible!
3
As their grip gets stronger, they'll start tearing pieces. Celebrate the ripping sound!
4
Let them explore the different textures of crumpled vs. flat paper.
What you need
• Tissue paper, wrapping paper, or old magazines
Simple household items. No plastic toys needed.
Why it works
Tearing paper builds bilateral hand coordination and grip strength. The sensory feedback from the sound and texture rewards baby's efforts and encourages exploration.
Good to know
Watch closely that baby doesn't eat the paper. Newspaper and glossy magazine pages may have inks that aren't safe to mouth, plain tissue paper is the safest choice.
