Warm and Cool Washcloth
Let baby feel the contrast between a warm and a cool washcloth on their feet and hands.
In the Little Play app, this activity appears in week 5 of your baby's personalized plan.
How to play
1
Prepare two washcloths: one soaked in warm water, one in cool (not cold) water. Wring both out.
2
Gently place the warm cloth on baby's foot and narrate: "This one is warm and cozy!"
3
Switch to the cool cloth: "And this one is cool and fresh!"
4
Try on their hands, arms, or cheeks and watch their different reactions.
What you need
• Two small washcloths
• Warm and cool water
Simple household items. No plastic toys needed.
Why it works
Experiencing temperature contrasts builds sensory discrimination and helps your baby understand that the world has variety and texture.
Good to know
Test both cloths on your inner wrist first. The warm cloth should be comfortably warm, and the cool cloth should be room temperature or slightly below, never icy.
